Governor Felix Camacho signed Bill 13 into law today. Surrounded by educators the Governor put pen to paper at George Washington High School in Mangilao, enabling legislation authored by Republican senator Bob Klitzkie.

"It's a real pleasure to be back here and it's a real pleasure to be able to show some appreciation for our teachers," said Senator Klitzkie. "Our hard working educators who just as you say have in a sense paid a tax already by spending their own money to do their jobs." The public law allows educators to claim a tax rebate to recover up to $500 of personal expenditures over and above the $250 deduction allowed by the Internal Revenue Service.

The new law essentially allows teachers to recoup some of the money they have to spend for school supplies, books, pencils, crayons and markers.
