On Thursday the legislature voted 9-5 along party lines (Sen. Tenorio
was out sick), to file a "friend of the court" brief in the
Supreme Court declaratory judgment proceeding arising out of the dispute
between the Governor and Lt. Governor.
I voted against this resolution because I am not in favor of the procedure
that allows our Supreme Court to issue "declaratory judgments."
I also introduced Bill 298 that would repeal the Supreme Court's authority
to issue declaratory judgments in the future.
